A Supply Chain Analysis of the Meat Industry
Within the food industry is a web of complexities in which we (the consumers) are often inept to the number of challenges it faces. Speculation of the industry seems to have created a harsh bias, breaking the industry as a whole into one conglomerate, not a web of differing producers holding different roles. Within these roles through the last few years we have seen the painful results of an ill prepared supply chain (empty shelves and “shortages”), boiling down to the the role of corporate globalization in the supply chain. This has opened up investigations, and pushed for what was once speculations and allegations to now be enacted upon by the powers at be.
This essay looks at these allegations and the events that lead up to today and bring to light some of the current events and roles in the food industry we all should be concerning ourselves with.
